Selecting the Correct Type of Personal EMF Meter
Choosing a personal EMF meter is not a task to be taken lightly and, in many cases, it is worth seeking expert advice before making the final purchasing decision.
There are several factors to consider, as shown in Wavecontrol’s guide to the key parameters that need to be taken into account when choosing an EMF meter.
Key parameters to be considered when selecting a personal EMF meter
If you don’t select the right meter with the correct specifications, you may end up with an excellent piece of equipment, that doesn’t suit your specific application.

The most crucial factor is the frequency range that needs to be measured. This depends on the source of the EMF radiation.
The new mm wave 5G mobile phone technology soon to be rolled out operate at a frequency of 26 GHz and 28 GHz. Therefore, for this application you would select the Wavemon RF-60-ARPANSA, which can measure frequencies in the range of 1 MHz to 60 GHz.
However, EMF radiation from high voltage power lines falls within a much lower range. So, for this application the Wavemon LF-400 would be suitable as it has a frequency measurement range of 10 Hz to 400 kHz.
